This team supports the cellular field area network utilized to communicate beyond the substation to smart devices within the power distribution network. This internship offers exposure to cutting-edge technologies in telecommunications, AI integration, and smart grid systems. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to projects that impact real-world power distribution networks.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining data within the Field Area Network database
- Enhancing and supporting GIS data loads
- Creating reports
- Assisting with the implementation of AI to optimize team productivity
- Assisting with the provisioning of new base stations
- Assisting engineers and technicians with their daily duties
- Other duties as required
Requirements
- Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week - Will make allowances for tests and other schoolwork.
- At least two days per week in the office located near Mill and Curry in Tempe, AZ
- Looking for a student willing to work year-round until graduation.
- Working towards a degree in engineering or information technology.
- Interest in wireless communications
- College level coursework (100+) from an accredited institution will be evaluated on an individual basis according to the skill/level to determine if applicable to the position by management.
- All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Currently, SRP does not sponsor H1B visas, OPT, or other employment-related visas.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, SharePoint and Outlook.
- Experience utilizing Generative AI
- Experience programming with languages such as Python
