Domestic Assistant (part-time)

This part‑time role is for 30 hours per week (0800–1430) on five days per week, with alternative weekends.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow housekeeping instructions as laid down by the company and as directed by the Manager/Nurse in charge
  • Uphold residents’ rights to privacy, dignity and choice
  • Operate tools and equipment safely and in a correct manner, and display warning signs as appropriate
  • Report any damage to equipment, furnishings or fabric of the building as soon as possible to immediate superior
  • Become familiar with and use appropriate chemicals in correct strengths as instructed in the manual, and use them economically
  • Keep furniture and carpets clean and free of odours
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness to reflect the image of the company
  • Dispose of waste materials and rubbish as instructed
  • Report any discrepancies in stock control and inform the Manager immediately
  • Report any injuries, disease or dangerous occurrences to the appropriate staff member
  • Wear company uniform at all times when on duty
  • Wear and use protective clothing and equipment as directed, and report any damage to superiors
  • Comply with all safe working policies and procedures
  • Attend training and staff meetings as requested by the manager
  • Be familiar with fire instructions, evacuation policies and procedures
  • Be familiar with company policy and procedure regarding domestic duties, sick leave and annual leave
  • Read any notices displayed in the work area and adhere to them at all times
  • Undertake any reasonable duties as directed by the manager or nurse in charge to ensure safe, smooth and efficient running of the nursing home

Job Details
  • Part‑time receptionist – three weeks of Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 9am‑5pm, and one week of Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 9am‑5pm.
  • Shifts across the week (0800–1430 or 0800–1600) are available.
  • Part‑time is 3 or 4 days per week from 08:00 to 14:00.
  • Dunblane pay: £13.12 per hour, £20,467 per annum (30 hours per week).
  • Gullane pay: £14.05 per hour, £26,301 per annum (36 hours per week).
  • The post is for 30 or 35 hours per week with working hours of 0800–1430 and one late shift per week.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience working in the care sector.
  • Experience caring for the elderly.
  • Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.
  • Membership of the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
  • Current and clean driving licence with access to a car.
