About the position
The College Intern position in the Office of Traffic Management is designed for students interested in gaining real-world experience in traffic engineering. The intern will support the TSMO program, assist in analyzing traffic data, and help with data collection at the Traffic Management Center. This role is telework eligible on a hybrid basis, requiring at least three days per week in the office after completing the initial training period. Responsibilities
- Supporting the TSMO program
- Help to analyze traffic data
- Assists with the Traffic Management Center with data collection
- Prepares and reviews information on traffic studies and speed zones
- Collects and reviews field data
- Researches and analyzes crashes and congestion
- Performs field work on selected congestion/safety locations
- Quality assurance/control of traveler information
- Enters and manipulates database for congestion locations
- Utilizes computer and related software to collect and analyze traffic data
- Organizes files, scans documents, records Traffic Management Center video, updates, and develops website
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Must be in good academic standing
- Strong communication skills
- Analytical skills
- Ability to work independently
- Interest in Traffic Engineering
