Medical Coding Analyst/Medical Records Technician

Overview

The Clinical Coders are to be able to interpret medical records and perform DRG coding for all inpatient discharges and procedures done from Day Surgery, Dental and Endoscopy accurately within the required time frame. The Clinical Coder is also required to liaise with doctor and other healthcare professionals on clinical coding matters and supporting relevant administrative functions in the department.

Job Responsibilities
  • Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)
  • Completion of DRG Coding Ensure the completion of all DRG coding.
  • Ensure all Inpatient and Day Surgery discharges are coded within an acceptable time frame for submission to MOH.
  • Turnaround time & Accuracy for Coding To achieve 100% for turnaround time for casemix coding within 14 days with error rate less than 4%.
  • Handling of queries or clarifications To seek clarifications from the clinicians for unsure cases, and to highlight any incomplete or missing medical records that are required for DRG coding.
  • Assist in providing the required DRG codes and/or the clarifications required by CPFB and/or insurance companies within the given timeframe.
  • Audit of Coded cases To be able to perform basic internal audit to ensure coding accuracy is of acceptable level.
  • Ensure that the procedures and standards of coding are adhered by all clinical coders.
  • Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%)
  • Undertake any other ad-hoc projects or duties assigned or tasked by Manager.
Job Requirements
  • Foreign MBBS, Nursing or Healthcare related degrees or Diploma in Nursing or equivalent.
  • Preferably 1 year's experience in coding in hospital setting.
  • Meticulous, independent, good team player and thorough; good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc).
  • Good ICD-10-CM knowledge.
