This position demands a deep understanding of welding metallurgy, the ability to interpret complex blueprints and technical specifications, and proficiency in using specialized welding equipment. Safety is paramount; therefore, a proven commitment to safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to offshore safety regulations, is essential. The work environment is dynamic and can involve challenging weather conditions and extended periods offshore. Key Responsibilities: Perform advanced welding operations on structural steel and pipelines in an offshore environment. Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure precise weld placement and integrity. Conduct pre-weld inspections and prepare materials for welding. Ensure all welds meet or exceed industry standards and client specifications. Operate and maintain various welding machines and associated equipment. Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and regulations, including offshore safety protocols. Collaborate with other crew members, engineers, and supervisors to complete projects on time and within scope. Troubleshoot and resolve welding-related issues as they arise. Conduct post-weld inspections and perform necessary repairs. Maintain accurate logs and reports related to welding activities. Qualifications: Valid AWS or equivalent welding certifications (e.g., Certified Welder). Minimum of 5 years of experience as a welder, with at least 3 years in the offshore oil and gas industry. Proficiency in MIG, TIG, SMAW, and FCAW welding processes. Experience with structural steel and pipe welding. Ability to pass rigorous welding tests and physical examinations. Strong understanding of welding metallurgy and inspection techniques. Excellent knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to work in hazardous environments. Ability to work offshore on a rotational basis, including extended periods away from shore. Valid offshore survival training certifications (e.g., BOSIET). High school diploma or GED required; trade school or technical certification preferred.
