[Remote] UN Women: Individual International Consultant – Technical Support to Team Leader – Multi‑Country Situational Analysis for the Design of the UN Women WEE Pacific Programme - x2 Positions (Home Based)

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. UN Women is dedicated to gender equality and women's empowerment, and they are seeking two International Technical Support Consultants to provide analytical and technical support for a multi-country Situational Analysis. The consultants will assist in drafting reports, conducting data analysis, and supporting stakeholder consultations to inform the design of the Women’s Economic Empowerment Pacific Programme.


Responsibilities

  • Support desk review and synthesis of policies, strategies, and research related to women’s economic empowerment
  • Contribute to data analysis, thematic synthesis, and comparative analysis across countries
  • Support stakeholder consultation design, documentation, and analysis
  • Draft sections of the Situational Analysis and Policy & Programme Recommendations reports, as assigned by the Lead Consultant
  • Support preparation of presentation materials and validation documentation
  • Ensure timely incorporation of UN Women and stakeholder feedback

Skills

  • Advanced university degree (Master's equivalent or higher) in Economics, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Sociology, Public Policy, Law, or related field is required
  • A first-level University Degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
  • At least five (5) years (with Masters' Degree or higher), or seven (7) years (with first-level University Degree) of progressively responsible experience of relevant professional experience supporting gender equality and/or economic development research, with a focus on women's economic empowerment and the informal economy
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to gender and economic studies, including research, analysis, and drafting of technical outputs
  • Experience working in Pacific Island States or similar development contexts, with knowledge of regional, national, sub-national, and community-level socio-economic and cultural contexts
  • Strong skills in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, including data collection, interviews, focus group discussions, data collation, analysis, and synthesis
  • Demonstrated ability to support policy and legal analysis related to women's economic empowerment, gender equality, and economic or government policy measures
  • Academic or professional background in gender studies, economics, sociology, development studies, or related fields; background as a feminist economist is an asset
  • Proven ability to contribute to high-quality analytical reports, including drafting sections of studies, background papers, policy documents, or assessments
  • Experience assessing women's access to productive resources, including land, finance, assets, skills, social protection, and innovation, under guidance
  • Strong analytical capacity to identify gaps, challenges, and opportunities in women's economic support systems
  • Experience supporting or contributing to programme and project documentation for the UN or other international or regional organizations; prior UN Women experience is an asset
  • Experience supporting stakeholder consultations, workshops, and validation processes, including documentation and synthesis of inputs
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with government agencies, women's organizations, civil society, UN entities, and marginalized communities
  • Strong analytical, drafting, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, structured written outputs
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English; knowledge of Pacific languages is an asset
  • Experience with data management and visualization tools (e.g. Excel, Power BI) is a strong asset
  • Ability to support the development of presentations, summaries, and basic infographics to communicate findings effectively
  • Strong organizational skills, initiative, sound judgment, and ability to manage assigned tasks independently while meeting deadlines
  • Commitment to ethical research practices, including informed consent, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, in line with UN values and standards
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and spreadsheet and database packages, and experience in handling of web-based management systems is required
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English is required
  • Knowledge of Pacific languages is an asset

Benefits

  • UN Women can only cover the air ticket cost of the International Technical Support Consultant to the duty station to assume this assignment, and back to home country at the end of the assignment, up to maximum of USD$5,000.00 on a reimbursable one-time basis only.
