Sr. Analyst, Global Trade Licensing & Sanctions

About the position

Join our dynamic BAE Systems Inc. Global Trade Licensing & Sanctions headquarters team as a subject matter expert responsible for reviewing and managing a portfolio of license applications that enable business success while ensuring regulatory compliance. This role offers a motivated professional exceptional growth potential either in the headquarters function or in the broader business level export teams. While we would be delighted to have you join us in our Falls Church office, we have many members of the broader team who engage in part-time and full-time remote work, and the team has become adept at managing remote relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the businesses in preparation and submittal of licenses and agreements to the USG.
  • Ensure license applications comply with company policies, processes and regulatory requirements before submission.
  • Serves as primary liaison between BAE Systems and U.S. government regulatory personnel on licensing issues.
  • Conducts pre-briefings to U.S. government agencies as required for program activities.
  • Provides expert guidance to BAE Systems business units on licensing strategies and requirements.
  • Reviews and approves foreign travel requests and foreign visitors.
  • Contributes to enterprise-wide authorization management initiatives that streamline licensing processes.
  • Drafts updates to Inc. level processes, checklists, guidelines and instructions.
  • Supports the development and presentation of export control training materials.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate licensing requirements into business planning processes.
  • Supports oversight of IT related tools (DECCS, OneSpace, SNAP-R)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 4 years progressive experience in global trade.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Department of State International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Department of Commerce Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
  • Hands-on experience with ITAR and EAR categories, including '500' and '600' series classifications.
  • Proven track record preparing successful export license applications and using license exemptions/ exceptions.
  • Proficient with global trade management software, particularly OCR Ease Export Management System (EMS).
  • Detail-oriented approach with ability to manage multiple projects in time-sensitive environments.
  • Ability to manage projects independently.
  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • In-depth experience with OCR EASE.
  • Experience in global trade systems technology implementation and training, including ability to assess automation needs for export control licensing and customs processes.
  • Familiarity with database and analytic platforms such as SharePoint, PowerBI, and Tableau.
  • Knowledge of customs compliance and import/export documentation, including systems and workflows.
  • Active secret security clearance would be a plus.
